In 1854, a Dr Browne came up with a cough medicine and shipped some off to British troops suffering in the trenches in the Crimean war. 60 years later, Dr Browne’s Cough Bottle gave the initials for a registered company, BCB.

“Dr Browne” has now been called back to do his duty for the community/country.

Soap versus sanitiser for preventing the transmission of acute respiratory infections in the community: a systematic review with meta-analysis and dose-response analysis.
Link: Tammy Hoffmann 1, et al.
Summary of abstract
Objective: To compare the effectiveness of hand hygiene using alcohol-based hand sanitiser to soap and water for preventing the transmission of acute respiratory infections (ARIs) and to assess the relationship between the dose of hand hygiene and the number of ARI, influenza-like illness (ILI) or influenza events.
Results: Eighteen trials were included. When meta-analysed, three trials of soap and water versus control found a non-significant increase in ARI events (risk ratio (RR) 1.23, 95% CI 0.78 to 1.93); six trials of sanitiser versus control found a significant reduction in ARI events (RR 0.80, 95% CI 0.71 to 0.89).
Conclusions: Adequately performed hand hygiene, with either soap or sanitiser, reduces the risk of ARI virus transmission; however, direct and indirect evidence suggest sanitiser might be more effective in practice.

It comes in lemon

The highest alcohol content I've found, a small amount goes a really long way and it comes in lemon!!!

Amazing scent

This is absolutely lovely. 80% alcohol so a cool tingle when you first apply, rubs and soaks in quickly and then you get a lovely heady scent of lavender. I'm going to order more 👌😊❤

Superior sanitiser

Hand sanitiser has lately changed from a convenience to keep in your handbag or car glove compartment to an absolute necessity, used frequently. As such, we've all been needing much bigger bottles of the stuff and although lots of distilleries and breweries have been marketing alcohol-rich sanitiser sprays as a side product, the thicker gel-type product has been more difficult to obtain. This sanitiser is thick, clear and smells of lavender - the scent doesn't completely overwhelm the smell of the alcohol, but it goes a long way and leaves a pleasant scent behind on the skin. It's quite potent (with an 80% alcohol content) so will do the job it's designed for, and the gel consistency means you use less and waste less than you do with thinner offerings which you have to spray. So far, I've also found this less drying on the skin. It comes in a recyclable plastic bottle, too.

Good value, strong scent, kills 99.9% of nasty stuff

I use a lot of hand sanitizer at the moment but I’ve always carried a small bottle in my bag for the last few years as I have quite a poor immune system and travel by public transport. This bottle is currently selling at 8.99 and is a huge 500mls. My mum (retired nurse) insists that I should use the strongest rubs I can find and this one is definitely that! You can smell the lavender and the scent lingers on your hand. A small amount goes a really long way but you can still tell it’s alcohol rub. It smelled a bit like lavender gin! This doesn’t dry out my hands too much and actually left them feeling quite soft. If you’re careful you can decant this into smaller travel-sized bottles – makes it a good way of keeping costs down and saving plastic!
